VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- A Valdosta man is accused of murder after police say he killed the man who shot and killed his brother in November.
According to the Valdosta Police Department, Brian Moore was found shot to death at his home in the 2400 block of Knox Drive on November 13.
Police say Emory Carter, Jr. was the shooter in the incident, which was described as a robbery.
According to VPD, Carter was shot several times and killed while walking through the Ora Lee West housing complex two weeks later by Justin Brown, 28, Moore's brother.
Police say some of Moore's family and friends were aware that Carter was the shooter but didn't disclose the information to Law Enforcement. VPD says that the silence "severely hindered" the investigation.
“Had Moore’s family and friends come forward and shared information with law enforcement, another tragedy may have been averted. In some circles, the idea of seeking revenge is more appealing than seeking justice through lawful means," VPD Chief Brian Childress said.
Police say Brown is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He's currently being held at the Lowndes County Jail.
Police say Malik Griffin, 20, drove Carter during Moore's murder. Griffin is charged with aggravated assault in connection with Moore's death. Jordan Williams, 23, who was a friend of Moore, is accused of removing narcotics and a handgun from the murder scene before police arrived.
He's charged with tampering with evidence and giving police a false statement.
Moore is the brother of former FSU player and current Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker, Telvin Smith.
