WAKULLA CO., Fla. (WCTV) -- A Crawfordville man was killed Saturday night after he struck a concrete culvert and his car became airborne.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 9:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 98 near Medart VFD Lane in Wakulla County.
The crash report states that 34-year-old Brandon Castallano was traveling south on US-98 when he lost control of his vehicle and drove onto the grass shoulder. FHP says the car collided with a concrete culvert before becoming airborne and hitting a utility pole and a palm tree.
Castallano was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt.
US-98 was partially closed as crews with Duke Energy secured live power lines.
