TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- An employee for the Florida Department of Health in Leon County is charged with embezzling more than $12,000.
Investigators say, over the course of two and a half years, 41-year old Keish Kitchen collected fees for environmental health permits, but pocketed some of the money for herself.
Arrest records say Kitchen systematically deleted at least 59 transactions and inappropriately issued 29 permits, for a total of $12,420 in falsified transactions.
After an internal investigation began in June 2016, Kitchen resigned to avoid being fired.
She was arrested Sunday and is now free on $2,500 bond.
