TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A woman is facing second degree murder charges following a stabbing at a mobile home on Matthew Carter Court last week.
Malinda Spargo, 22, is charged with the murder of her fiance, 27-year-old Joseph Jackson.
According to the Leon County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the mobile home on November 2 and found Jackson lying unresponsive on the floor with a stab wound to the left side of his chest. First responders were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Spargo told investigators she and Jackson had been involved in a physical altercation, so she grabbed a knife to "get him off me." Spargo said she was pointing the knife at Jackson, and as he walked towards her she moved the knife forward and Jackson "kind of walked into it."
The owner of the mobile home said she met Spargo and Jackson through a Craigslist ad and had allowed them to stay with her for about a week.
The homeowner told investigators she saw Spargo step towards Jackson and thrust the knife forward, stabbing him in the chest. She said Jackson was not moving towards Spargo and the suspect had stabbed him because she was angry.
