TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Wreaths Across America still needs hundreds of wreaths to lay at the graves of soldiers in Tallahassee.
Here in Tallahassee they need 1200 wreaths for the National Cemetery, Oakland Cemetery and the VFW Post 3308 Cemetery and they're still hundreds of wreaths short, said event coordinator Nancy Etheridge with the Civil Air Patrol.
The event, coming up on December 15, allows families to place wreaths on their loved ones' graves and then invites the public to lay wreaths on the graves of other soldiers.
Wreaths Across America is sponsored by the Civil Air Patrol's Tallahassee Composite Squadron.
The wreath laying means so much to the families of those who've served.
"At this time of year, a difficult time of year for a lot of people, it is to remember their loved ones, acknowledge their service, come out here and basically visit and spend time at their grave site," Tallahassee National Cemetery Director Raymond Miller said.
The deadline to order wreaths is Monday, December 3. The wreaths cost 15 dollars each and are delivered directly to the cemetery.
