Baklava with Apple Jack Rum Simple Syrup


• 1 pack Phyllo Dough
• 10 oz Mix Nuts, Pistachios, Walnuts, and Pecans, crushed
• 1/2 pound Melted Butter
• 1 pound Sugar
• 10 oz Water
• 1 Cinnamon Stick
• 1 Lemon Peel
• 2 oz Apple Jack Spiced Rum
• Pinch Almond Extract


Add sugar, water, lemon peel, cinnamon stick, Rum and extract in a pot. Allow the syrup to reduce by a quarter. Remove from heat and allow to chill.

Lay phyllo dough out, brush with butter. Sprinkle a light amount of crushed nuts. Use a wooden dowel to roll phyllo dough. Push phyllo dough together. Place the roll inside a buttered baking pan. Baked at 360 degrees for an hour ten minutes. As soon as you take them out the oven, quickly add the simple syrup. Add as much as you like. Allow the Baklava to sit for one hour and serve.
