TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The countdown to kickoff for Florida A&M has hit single digits.
Next Saturday, the Rattlers will open their 2018 campaign against Fort Valley State, where they'll also debut new head coach, and Quincy native, Willie Simmons.
So far, it's been a honeymoon for Simmons, gaining the adoration of fans, administrators and his players, but all the fluff is about to be put on the shelf.
As Simmons says, it's time to get on the field and see what his new-look team can do.
"It is really sinking in now that I'm about to start my regime as a head coach at Florida A&M University," Simmons said. "It's a surreal feeling. It's definitely something that I'm thankful for and I'm really looking forward to but I understand the pressure that comes along with it and I'm up for the challenge. Just looking forward to putting these young men on the field and seeing what they can do."
