TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- FAMU and FSU fans have mixed feelings after the ups and downs of this weekend's football games.
There was a lot of excitement pulsing through Bragg Memorial Stadium Saturday.
Breonna Gaskin, a FAMU student, said, "It was amazing. I had a good time. Everybody was cheering. The band was good. I was ecstatic."
The ecstatic feeling was magnified by the fact that the Rattlers won their first football game of the season.
FAMU student Kyle McMillian said, "I'm excited. We're going to win the rest of them, too. Hopefully we can make big things happen. We got to keep that momentum and all of that."
Eryn Thompson, a FAMU student, says she could see an improvement in fan support and excitement.
"It was exciting to see that we won. It was exciting, the first game of the season started off well. Hopefully they can keep this up for the rest of the season. They got that new turf, they got the new coach and now we just need wins," she said.
Just up the street, fans at FSU were shocked by the big loss in their first game of the season Monday night.
"It did not go very well," said FSU student Brooke Garringer.
Garringer added, "When I saw us score the first time, I was like yeah, maybe we got it in us. Then they kept scoring, and we weren't doing anything. Yeah, it definitely could've gone a lot better."
Aidan Carney attended the game. He said, "Just disappointed. That's the only word I have. Deondre Francois throwing zero touchdowns and three interceptions, not good."
Christina Montgomery is an FSU fan. She said, "It felt like a rock in my stomach. It was so disappointing. But, I believe FSU can get up again and do well."
As disappointed as FSU fans are, some do seem to still be optimistic for the rest of the season.
FAMU fans say they hope the momentum of the first win keeps going and going.
Despite conflicting emotions, the hype at each university over both new coaches -- "the Willies" -- is still strong.
