FSU signs seven in Early Signing Period

The following student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent with Florida State during the Early Signing Period:

Christian Armstrong | OL | 6-4 | 328 | Warner Robins, Ga. | Warner Robins High School
Powerful offensive tackle rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals and three-star by 247 … helped lead Warner Robins to Georgia AAAAA state championship game and 14-1 overall record … blocked for offense that averaged 34.1 points per game and 388.7 yards of total offense his senior season … offense passed for 3,645 yards, rushed for 2,186 yards and scored 67 total touchdowns during 2017 season … prior to senior year was selected for Rising Seniors all-star game … selected Florida State over multiple offers, including Alabama, Georgia and Penn State.

Isaiah Bolden | DB | 6-2 | 185 | Wesley Chapel, Fla. | Wesley Chapel High School
Hard-hitting cover corner rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals and 247 … ranked as top-30 cornerback in the country by both services and 188th overall in ESPN300 … selected to play in Offense-Defense All-American Bowl … was also used on special teams, putting his return skills to good use with 90-yard interception return and 93-yard punt return for touchdowns during his senior season … junior year helped lead a defense that held opponents to 19.3 points per game as the Wildcats earned 7-2 overall record … received multiple scholarship offers and selected Florida State over Oregon.

Robert Cooper | DL | 6-2 | 365 | Lilburn, Ga. | South Gwinnett High School
One of FSU’s first commitments for the class of 2018 … consensus four-star prospect rated No. 4 nationally among defensive tackles and No. 13 overall in Georgia by 247 and No. 5 at his position and 16th in state by Rivals … ranked 91st in ESPN300 … Under-Armour All-American … recorded 42 tackles, including 8.0 for loss with 2.0 sacks while battling injuries as a senior … junior season collected 54 tackles, including 16.0 for loss with 4.0 sacks, and six quarterback hurries while helping Comets advance to second round of AAAAAAA state playoffs … named first-team all-state by Atlanta Journal Constitution and Georgia Sportswriters Association … selected Florida State over Alabama and Georgia after receiving multiple scholarship offers.

Three-star local product that shows tremendous range and can play sideline to sideline or use his speed to get to the quarterback … amassed 93 tackles, including 24 for loss with 12 sacks, in 10 games in 2017 … as a junior earned honorable mention 7A all-state honors in addition to first-team All-Big Bend team after recording 77 tackles, including 23 for loss with eight sacks … father Herb Gainer played wide receiver for Florida State from 1984-87 and his mother also attended FSU … chose the Seminoles over Miami, Georgia, Missouri, Oklahoma and Purdue among others.

Outstanding cornerback ranked No. 25 overall by ESPN and a consensus four-star recruit … named an Under Armour All-American … helped led St. Thomas Aquinas to 7A state titles as a sophomore and junior and the state semifinals in 2017 … blocked a field goal in his final high school game against Venice … finished 2017 with 32 tackles, one interception, two blocked field goals and two blocked PATs … named the fourth-best prospect in recruit-heavy Brevard County prior to his senior season … participated in The Opening finals … attended same high school as recent Florida State standouts Lamarcus Joyner and Rashad Greene … father is Asante Samuel, who played at UCF and spent 11 years in the NFL with the Patriots, Eagles, and Falcons … chose Florida State over numerous offers, including Miami, Alabama, LSU and Ohio State.

Hard-hitting safety earned five-star rating by 247Sports national composite … ranks as No. 27 overall prospect nationally in composite rankings and 66th in ESPN300 … named a U.S. Army All-American and Under Armour All-American … honor-roll student throughout his time at St. John Bosco … after playing his first two seasons at Upland High School, transferred to St. John Bosco and helped win the CIF state title as junior … also participated in The Opening finals prior to his senior season … received numerous offers and chose Florida State over Ohio State, Oklahoma and USC.
