TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Despite the glaring absence of a quarterback in the signing class for the second straight year, you'd be hard pressed to call the first full recruiting class under Willie Taggart a failure for Florida State.
Of their 21 signees, five will come in to provide depth to the offensive line, while nearly all of their defensive commits (of which there are 14) are not just talented (early signee Akeem Dent boasts a five-star rating on the Rivals recruiting service while seven others head to FSU with four stars to their name) but could provide some instant impact players.
While not a perfect class (as mentioned not just above, but just about anywhere else you'll read about FSU's 2019 recruits), FSU fans seem optimistic in the future for the program, with a majority of the fans we've polled saying they'd rate the 'Noles class as a "B" grade.
While I get the tendency to want your more "flashy" signings to be on the offensive side of the ball, this class isn't without "flashy" prospects. The aforementioned Dent should be able to be plugged in immediately, while hyper local Seminoles fans have every reason to be excited for Travis Jay, who made his signing official on Wednesday.
Was the Noles' signing class perfect? Of course not. But, it's going to put the Seminoles in a better place as a program moving forward, both on and, as Taggart said after the class was announced as he continues his drive of a culture change, off the field.
