CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCTV) -- USA Basketball announced former Florida State Seminole and current Charlotte Hornets forward Dwayne Bacon has been selected as one of 14 players who will compete for a roster spot with the USA's September World Cup Qualifying Team.
Bacon and the 13 other hopefuls open training camp on September 6 at UNLV's Mendenhall Center.
The former Seminole appeared in 53 games for the Hornets in his rookie season, averaging 3.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game.
He also played in four games with the Hornets G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, scoring 26.5 points to accompany 6.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists in just under 36 minutes per night.
Other names joining Bacon at Team USA training camp include Bryce Alford (Oklahoma City Blue); V.J. Beachem (Free Agent); Jordan Crawford (New Orleans Pelicans); Henry Ellenson (Detroit Pistons); Reggie Hearn (Grand Rapids Drive); Isaiah Hicks (Westchester Knicks); Dakari Johnson (Memphis Grizzlies); Frank Mason III (Sacramento Kings); Ben Moore (Fort Wayne Mad Ants); Chasson Randle (Capital City Go-Go); Travis Trice (Brisbane Bullets, Australia); Jameel Warney (Texas Legends); and Derrick White (San Antonio Spurs).
