FINAL: Florida State 10 - UGA 1

ATHENS, Ga. (WCTV) -- The Florida State Seminoles and the Georgia Bulldogs find themselves playing against one another for the second time in 24 hours, as the two will square off again in the Athens Regional Sunday night.

A Florida State win puts them in the Super Regionals, with a perfect record in the Athens Regional. A loss, and the two teams will square off again in a winner-take-all game Monday afternoon.

UGA won their first losers bracket game earlier Sunday, a 13-0 drumming of FAU to end the Owls' run. The Dawgs scored 13 runs on just 12 hits and, most importantly, starting pitcher Tim Elliott tossed a complete game, meaning Georgia has every arm available out of the bullpen.

Tonight's game can be seen on ESPNU.

I cannot believe this went down like it did, either night, but FSU is advancing to the Supers. Our quick gamer can be read here.

Top of the 8th Inning, 10-1 FSU

For the fourth straight game, the Noles have plated at least 10 runs. It's also the fifth time in the last seven games the Noles have scored in double figures.

This latest run came off the bat of Robby Martin, who hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Mike Salvatore, who reached on a walk to open the frame.

FSU's streak started in their final ACC Tournament game against NC State, who was playing lax to save some strength in the semi finals (which didn't work).

That offensive outburst has carried over and gave FSU a second life.

Bottom of the 6th Inning, 9-1 FSU

There goes the shutout; Tucker Maxwell, who went yard on the second pitch of the game on Saturday, sends a towering shot over the bleachers beyond the right field wall to put the Bulldogs on the board.

11 and the infield hold a meeting but Grady is still in.

Top of the 6th Inning, 9-0 FSU

Repeat the thing I said about keeping the line moving.

A wild pitch moves Mendoza to third and he scores on Robby Martin's single up the middle.

9. To. Nothing.

Top of the 6th Inning, 8-0 FSU

Keep the line movin'.

Drew Mendoza doubles home Salvatore. 8-0.

Top of the 6th Inning, 7-0 FSU

Two more runs have come across, thanks to some stellar lead-off base hitting. Nander De Sedas reached on an error and Carter Smith followed with a single to set the stage for a one-out, two-run double from Salvatore that split the outfielders and bounced off the wall.

7-0 and UGA just has no idea what keeps hitting them in the mouth.

Top of the 4th Inning, 5-0 FSU

Walks will haunt, as Cole Wilcox found out. Back-to-back two out walks to Becker and Salvatore led to an RBI single for Albert, making it 5-0.

Wilcox's day is done after just 3.2 innings of work.

Middle of 3rd Inning, 4-0 FSU

FSU doubles up UGA in the top of the third after Drew Mendoza doubled off the glove of the UGA third baseman Aaron Schunk and an errant throw from center fielder Tucker Maxwell (after FSU was giving the Dawgs a 2nd and 3rd situation) scored Reese Albert, who led the inning off with a walk, scored on the bad throw.

Two batters later, Matheu Nelson grounded out and scored Mendoza.

4-0, Noles.

End of 2nd Inning, 2-0 FSU

Conor Grady has walked a batter in each frame so far today but has not let them get past first. He's dealing with a tight strikezone in the early going (as CJ Van Eyk did last night) and still doesn't have a great feel for it, but it hasn't cost him yet.

End of 1st Inning, 2-0 FSU

Sorry for the update delay everybody - was working on our live hit for our 6 p.m. show with Ryan Kelly and Kevin Keane.

Anyway, after allowing just two hits and no runs against FAU earlier in the day, the Bulldogs have already surrendered two hits and two runs in the top of the first against the Noles, on a two-run jack from Reese Albert.

Well folks, it's time to baseball once again. FSU is the designated road team this evening while UGA will be home.

Here's how the sides line up.

The Noles are unchanged from last night and have Conor Grady taking the bump, with his 8-5 record and 3.96 ERA.

The Dawgs scored 13 runs on 12 hits earlier today and will put righty Cole Wilcox on the mound. This will be Wilcox's 19th appearance this year but just his sixth start. He's 3-1 with a 3.70 ERA.
