LAKELAND, Fla. (WCTV) -- The wait is over for Madison County fans as the Cowboys captured their first boy's basketball title in school history with a 62-60 overtime victory against Wildwood.
Wildwood started the game on a 12-2 run but MadCo calmed down and was able to solve the Wildcats' zone defense, taking the game over.
The Cowboys won the third quarter, 19-8, but four quarters wasn't enough to settle things.
In overtime, Madison County star, and Florida State football commit, Travis Jay fouled out with 16 points.
The game was decided when Wildwood's star Markus Niblack picked up a technical foul with 4.4 seconds left on the clock, putting the Cowboys at the free throw line for two free throws, making them both to break a 60-60 tie.
