The FAMU Rattler Men's Basketball team had five players score in double figures as they outlasted Johnson University, 100-91 Thursday night at The Al Lawson Center.
Desmond Williams and Marcus Barham each had 17 points for FAMU Thursday, with Williams adding a team-high seven rebounds. Craig Bowman dropped 16 points, Justin Ravenal added 15, and Leon Williams finished with 10 points for the Rattlers.
Ravenel (5-of-6) and Bowman (4-of-8) combined for a 9-of-14 shooting performance from distance.
Nicholas Severado also hauled down seven rebounds, adding two blocks and three steals, while K'Ja Johnson finished with eight points, six assists and seven steals for FAMU.
FAMU (2-1) had its best shooting night of the young season, finishing at 51.4 percent from the floor (36 of 70), and 55 percent (11 of 20), while the visiting Johnson University Suns (1-5) shot 58.9 percent (33 of 56) and 47.6 percent (10 of 21) from distance.
The Rattlers led, 47-39 at the break, and in the second half, both teams shot 55 percent from the floor, and both were over 50 percent from three-point range, as FAMU edged the Suns, 53-52 on the scoreboard.
Johnson had four players score in double digits, led by Josh Grover's 25 points and nine rebounds. Kendall Oliver added 22 points for the Suns, followed by Duane Howard and Caleb Winfrey with 13 points apiece.
