TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- It was a near storybook start to the final season of a storybook career for Mike Martin and the Florida State Seminoles baseball team.
Florida State swept their four-game series against the University of Maine and did so in style, outscoring the Black Bears 42-9, tossing a combined no-hitter on opening night and saw the emergence of a young star in the making: freshman outfielder Robby Martin.
This past weekend, Martin led the Seminoles offense, hitting .438 with nine RBIs and set an FSU record in his first game in garnet and gold, knocking in five runs, the most for an FSU freshman in a season opener.
"That's a good baseball player and that's a strong-willed young man that will be in total control of his emotions," said the 'Noles skipper. "It's a nice way to get started for him and our team."
"As we know in this game, you can't get up, you can't get down, you've got to be ready to go tomorrow," FSU's head man continued.
