TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Around this time of year, there are indications that spring is upon us; warmer temperatures, flowers blooming, longer days and the start of spring football.
Florida State held their first practice of the spring on Monday with visible changes from the jump to welcome in Willie Taggart's second spring in garnet and gold. Making his rounds was new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles and taking snaps under center with the first team was James Blackman, who looked sharp.
On the first day of the spring, Taggart said the mentality of this team is to put 2018 in the rear view mirror and to get excited for 2019, calling the spring practice season a chance for a clean slate.
"We've got a chance to practice and get better," Taggart said. "Our guys have been working really hard and seeing the improvement that we made in the chase really has me excited about today and seeing our guys translate that onto the football field."
FSU's spring will culminate with the Garnet and Gold Spring Game on April 6 at Doak Campbell Stadium.
