TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- This spring has seen Florida State undergo an offensive overhaul and, while the scheme remains the same, the way it runs will be a whole lot smoother. At least, that's the promise Willie Taggart has made.

The man behind those improvements this offseason is new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, an offensive guru who has seen success at his previous stops at Baylor, FAU and Houston.

While FSU fans will get a first-hand look at the changes at Saturday's spring game, Taggart says Briles' prowess has gone beyond X's and O's; he's been connecting with quarterback James Blackman and other players, finding a chemistry he hopes will translate to success on the field.

"Kendal is doing a good job not just with the quarterback but all the guys," Taggart said. "Not just the offense, but the defensive guys, interacting and getting to know our players and that's good to see. And our players know him; defensive guys know him and talk to him and again that's good, that's the chemistry we want. We want everyone knowing everyone and feeling good about everyone while they're around."

FSU's spring game starts at 4 p.m. Saturday.
