TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Three Florida State women's basketball alumnae helped their native Spain take home the EuroBasket title with a 71-55 win over France.
Leonor Rodriguez, Leticia Romero and Maria Conde all pitched in for Spain's title run. The club lost just once - a 67-63 defeat to the host Czech Republic in the group stages - all tournament.
Rodriguez, a sharp-shooting guard for the Seminoles from 2009-12, played in five of Spain’s six games. The Canary Islands native averaged 1.2 points in 3.3 minutes played per game. Rodriguez participated with the Spanish National Team in last year's Olympics, winning a silver medal.
Romero, coming off her third straight All-America season with FSU, averaged 2.8 points in 5.2 minutes played per game. The Connecticut Sun of the WNBA currently hold her draft rights as she continues to break through for her native country.
Conde, who finished her second and final season with FSU in 2016-17, averaged 2.9 minutes but also missed action with an injury. Earlier on Monday, it was announced Conde had signed a contract with UNI Girona Club in Spain to play professionally.
