Sleep Out for the Homeless

As the temperatures continue to drop Friday night, a fraternity at a local university is sending a big message to raise awareness for those less fortunate.

Starting at around 8 o'clock Friday night, members of FSU's Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity began setting up their ninth annual "Sleep Out for the Homeless" event, where students are invited to say no to their warm beds and hello to the tough conditions of sleeping outside.

"A lot of students complain about their situations but come and spend a night out in the cold on some cardboard boxes and may be more grateful and more grateful for the people that don't have beds to sleep on,' says Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Member and Event Chair, Terence Harris.

Organizers are encouraging students and members of the community to drop off clothing at FSU's Student Union until 6 a.m. Saturday morning, with all of the donations going to the Shelter in Tallahassee.
