The road was renamed Bob Hayes lane in honor of the 'Bullet' Bob Hayes who spent many season making rattler fans cheer.
As one of FAMU's most celebrated athletes the road leading onto Bragg Stadium was renamed as a tribute to all that Hayes did for the school.
His family couldn't be more proud to be here in his honor.
"Naming a street after him which is a great honor even more than
renaming a building because there's alot of memories on Bob Hayes lane," says Westine Lodge, Bob Hayes daughter.
The Multipurpose Center and Teaching Gymnasium was renamed for
Senator Al Lawson who was instrumental in getting the funding for this center and other buildings on campus.
Lawson is a well known alum and had the privilege of having his family there to see him accept the honor.
The third building to be renamed was the student recreation center
right up the road it was renamed after Hansel Tooks who has earned
several awards for FAMU including lifetime achievement and famuan of
the century award.
