Deputies: Panhandle Teen Accidentally Shoots, Kills Self with Shotgun

JACKSON CO., Fla. -- Authorities say a Jackson County teen is dead after accidentally shooting himself with a shotgun.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, the body of the 14-year boy was found near the Compass Lake Community on Saturday.

Deputies say the boy was found with a gunshot wound.

The victim and a 15-year-old friend came into possession of a shotgun and the victim accidentally shot himself, according to investigators.

Deputies say the investigation is open and ongoing.
