News Release: FAMU

ORLANDO, Fla. – The third annual Florida A&M University (FAMU) All-Stars Tour will take place today, Feb. 12 - Feb. 13. During the tour, undergraduates from FAMU and other Florida institutions will visit downtown Orlando to experience the FAMU College of Law. The two-day orientation program is designed to recruit top academic performers with an expressed interest in studying law. Many of the All-Stars have already excelled in pre-law programs.

The tour will include transportation for current FAMU undergraduate students from Tallahassee to Orlando and back, with a night's stay at the Sheraton Orlando Downtown. The All-Stars group will also include undergraduates from Bethune-Cookman University, the University of South Florida and the University of Central Florida. All participants will have an opportunity to explore the College of Law campus, take part in law classes, meet current law students and participate in law school admissions and financial aid overviews.

Students will also attend networking events that will allow them to interact with law school alumni, area attorneys, local judges and community leaders, including members of the College of Law Board of Visitors. Additional events and activities are planned to introduce them to the study and profession of law.

Tonight, the Orlando Magic will host the high-achieving students during a home game and reception at the Amway Center, when the team takes on the Memphis Grizzlies. On Thursday, Feb. 13, members of the College of Law Advisory Group will meet with the prospective students at a lunch session to provide an overview of the many types of legal opportunities in Central Florida. The session will take place at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club and is sponsored by Walt Disney World Resorts.

Undergraduate students can receive additional information on future FAMU All-Star Tours by contacting Assistant Dean John Washington with the College of Law Office of Admissions at john.washington@famu.edu or (407) 254-3286.
