FHP: One Dead In Log Truck Accident [GALLERY]

Perry, FL -- We now know the names of the drivers involved in a deadly crash in our area.

The fatal accident caused a local highway to shut down after a head on collision involving an SUV and semi truck.

The accident happened before 6 p.m. yesterday evening in Perry.

Florida Highway Patrol says the driver of the SUV, 27-year-old Casey Bergman, was heading west on US 98 when she traveled into another lane crashing into 44-year-old William Murphy's semi truck and causing it to flip over.

Bergman was pronounced dead at the scene, and Murphy was reported unharmed.

FHP is still investigating why Bergman swerved into the other lane.

Tallahassee FL- An area highway is shut down after a semi crashes head on into an SUV and flips.

Fog challenged investigators responding to the scene Monday night, following a head on collision involving an SUV heading west on 98 and a Semi Truck towing a piece of machinery heading east.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Gregory Potter, "For unknown reasons the SUV traveled across center lines where it made impact with the loader that was being towed by the tractor trailer."

Florida Highway Patrol says the driver of the SUV was a female, pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the flipped semi- was able to walk away unharmed.

FHP would only tell us the accident happened before 6 P.M. adding they're still investigating why the woman swerved into the other lane, they hope an autopsy will help answer some of those questions.

For now, they are treating this case like all other traffic homicide investigations-- interviewing any possible witnesses, documenting all signs of the crash and making sure the family of this woman is notified of her death.

"We will get all the information from the scene, get measurements take photographs. And he will have 90 days to complete his investigation."

The Florida Highway Patrol says it hopes to have Highway 98 opened back up by 11:30 tonight.

Perry, FL - According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV heading west along Hwy. 98 swerved for unknown reasons into oncoming traffic and collided with a log-loading semi truck. The female in the SUV died on scene.
