Madison man's death ruled as homicide by police

MADISON, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Madison Police Department has ruled the death of a man found near railroad tracks last week a homicide.

The body of Jeremy Harris, 27, was found alongside railroad tracks near Scruggs Ave early in the morning on May 25.

Police were alerted to the body after CSX contacted authorities.

Officers say they are still actively investigating Harris' death and following leads, but have no suspects and no one in custody.

A police spokesperson did not have any comment on the manner of Harris' death.

MADISON, Fla. (WCTV) -- Investigators expect to know more next week about a man found dead by the railroad tracks in Madison.

27-year-old Jeremy Harris’ body was discovered early Wednesday along the tracks near Scruggs Avenue.

Police hope autopsy results due next week will give them more insight into how Harris died.

The case is still being investigated as an ‘undetermined death.’

Madison Police say they’re following leads and interviewing witnesses but do not have any suspects at this time.

MADISON, Fla. (WCTV) -- Officers with the Madison Police Department say a body was found early Wednesday morning.

CSX called the police department around 4 a.m. after a passing train engineer saw a body on the side of the tracks near the intersection of Scruggs Ave. and SW E.R. Scott St.

Police say officers walked the tracks and found the body of Jeremy Harris, a Madison resident.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is also on the scene. Authorities are trying to determine how the male died and are calling the death 'undetermined' at this time.
