VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Georgia State Patrol says it is targeting distracted driving near Valdosta.
Troopers in the region say that traffic crashes have increased in recent months and have resulted in several injuries and deaths.
GSP says they will begin a series of patrols specifically targeting distracted drivers and state that distracted driving is any activity that could divert a person's attention away from driving such as texting, eating, grooming and adjusting the radio.
Troopers say that Georgia specifically bans drivers under the age of 18 from using a phone while driving.
