TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Two men were hospitalized in an apparent electrical explosion Tuesday afternoon at the building site of the new VA medical center.

According to Tallahassee Fire Department spokesman Capt. Mike Bellamy there was an electrical explosion "of some sort" at the VA site located at the intersection of Blair Stone Road and Orange Avenue.

Crews were dispatched to the site at 3:13 p.m.

There was no reported fire or structural damage to the site, but two men were apparently electrocuted, according to Bellamy.

The men were found outside of the structure and received advanced life support, TFD officials say.

One of the victims was flown to Shands Hospital in Gainesville and the other was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. Bellamy said he could not comment on the victims' conditions.

The medical center is scheduled to open later in 2016.
