VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Police say a Valdosta man was arrested after stabbing a woman during a domestic dispute while their child was present.

The Valdosta Police Department says officers responded to an aggravated assault call at 603 Way Street around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers say they found 22-year-old Jasmine Nelson with multiple stab wounds to her torso. 21-year-old Tevin Love and the couple's 8-month-old child were also at the scene.

Police say Love stabbed Nelson repeatedly with a knife during an altercation.

Love was arrested, transported to the Lowndes County Jail and faces charges of aggravated assault, cruelty to children, and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.

Officers say Nelson is currently in stable condition at South Georgia Medical Center.

Their child was unharmed, according to police.
