The 12 state universities continue to work on plans, which they are supposed to present June 23 to the Board of Governors. The plans will flesh out details about issues such as student housing, academics, health protocols and athletics.
State university system Chancellor Marshall Criser told the Board of Governors that each university will have the flexibility to determine crucial details, including which individuals will need to be tested for COVID-19, rules for the use of face masks, and alternatives for students and faculty who may be at high risk of getting sick.

State Board of Education member Michael Olenick on Wednesday requested that Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran create a pandemic task force that would focus on the numerous changes that schools will need to make in the coming months.
A 20-person 'Reopen Leon Schools Task Force' will be established to look at how the Leon County Schools District will handle the 2020-2021 school year, Superintendent Rocky Hanna announced during the bi-monthly school board meeting on Tuesday.
"As you consider next steps for Florida, I am writing to strongly urge you to keep schools closed to students and to continue distance learning for the remainder of the current school year," the letter says.
