It’s been a week and a half since the Lanier County softball team brought home the A Division Two state title. On Tuesday, they celebrated alongside all other Lanier County fall sports teams.
Believe it or not, the postseason is here for high school football teams in both the Big Bend and south Georgia, and Thomas County Central is one of the teams to watch. The Jackets finished the regular season 10-0, are back to back region champs, and they’re one of the top teams in the state in AAAAAA.
The Lanier County softball team cruised through last year’s double elimination state tournament, only to be upset in the state tile game. It’s a memory the Lady Dawgs would rather not have, but one that’s fueled them all offseason, and is their biggest motivator to finish the job this fall.
Thomas County’s seat has had a love affair with America’s game that goes back over a century, but in 1993 if you took the pulse of the sport you’d find its heart beating in the Rose City.
