Canes to Open New Era in Dolphin Stadium

The Miami Hurricanes are opening their new season
in a new stadium.
The Hurricanes will officially begin a 25-year stay at Dolphin
Stadium on Thursday night when they open their season against
Charleston Southern.
The Hurricanes' former home, the Orange Bowl, was left without a
primary tenant when the University of Miami announced its football
team would leave after last season. It has been dismantled.
Miami will bring many of its traditions to Dolphin Stadium. That
includes the giant inflatable ``U'' helmet and white smoke for
players to run through when taking the field.
A new, 3,000-square-foot locker room awaits the players, as do
giant video screens at either end of the field, luxury suites and
enough parking to accommodate a sellout crowd.
