Bulldogs Move Indoors For Practice

Athens, GA - Rain forced the Georgia Bulldogs (4-3, 3-2 SEC) from their
Woodruff Practice Fields to the Georgia Basketball practice facility on
Tuesday. The offense worked out in the women's team's practice gym, while the defense occupied men's gym as the team prepared for Saturday's matchup with No. 1 Florida (7-0, 5-0 SEC) in Jacksonville.

The 90-minute session was conducted in shoulder pads and shorts.

"It was a good day with good focus," head coach Mark Richt said. "We walked through things, which is important mental preparation and also helps get the sensation of what your body is supposed to do during the game. It really didn't hurt us in our physical preparation either because we had our typical Tuesday practice on Sunday and we'll get our regular Wednesday practice in tomorrow."

The 120,000-square-foot practice facility adjacent to Stegeman Coliseum is one of the nation's largest and is located approximately 200 yards from the Butts-Mehre football complex.

"It was a short walk, and we had plenty of room to get done what we wanted to get done," Richt said.

Richt also announced the captains for Saturday: defensive tackle Geno
Atkins, offensive lineman Clint Boling, cornerback Brandon Boykin and
linebacker Rennie Curran.

The trip to Stegeman was Richt's second visit to the facility on the day.
Earlier, he led the Bulldogs' weekly press conference there to discuss the matchup with the Gators. Richt said he was pleased with the performance of the scout teams of late.

³I thought we practiced real fast and with a good demeanor," he said. "The scout team has done a really good job. The harder and the faster they go, the better practice we have because maybe 50 percent of our practice is versus our scouts whether it¹s kicking or offense and defense. When the scout team, especially the offensive scout team, has good tempo, it allows the defense to play at a good tempo. You can probably only play at about as fast as those guys go. I was real pleased with what they've done.²

CBS will televise Saturday's game, with kickoff slated for 3:35 p.m. ET.
