They share the same city. They've shared the same court. And this weekend, they share the same goal: an NCAA volleyball championship! MEAC champion Florida A&M and ACC champion Florida State roll into the Tallahassee regional round ready to put on a show for the home fans..
FAMU Head Volleyball Coach Tony Trifinov says,"It's great, and hopefully all the Rattler fans are going to come out and support us this weekend at Tully Gym. It's going to be a great atmosphere. It's always exciting to play in the NCAA tournament round."
FSU Head Volleyball Coach Chris Poole added, "It'll be a great opportunity for us to host and we're going to have to take care of business. It's going to be teams that have done well in their conferences. All three actually won their conferences so we're going to have to come out, we're going to have to play well but it'll help prepare us for that third and fourth round."
Although it's difficult to avoid looking that deep into the tournament, the possibility of a second round all Tallahassee match up is hard to overlook.
Trifinov said, "Wow, it will be an electric atmosphere in Tully with our fans and the FSU fans but we have to first get there, and so do they. They have Alabama A&M team that's SWAC Champion that they have to play the first round, so I'm sure Coach Poole is going to be preparing for them exclusively as we will for Jacksonville State."
The road to Tampa runs through Tully Gym this Saturday as two programs will be hoping it's "home, sweet home."
