DECATUR CO., Ga. (WCTV) -- A simple gesture is making a big impact after Hurricane Michael.

This month, Bainbridge Public Safety received heartwarming mail from elementary students all the way in Richmond Hill.

There are about a hundred individual letters from kids at Mcallister Elementary School.

Some of them were colored with bright pictures, but all of them meant the world to the first responders who received them.

"They show people like us wearing badges pulling people out of the water and out of the houses, so that meant a lot because they know our jobs and the duties we do everyday. It meant a lot," said Davina Thomas, a Bainbridge Public Safety officer.

In the a letter from the Mcallister Elementary School counselor, it says the kids wanted to express their appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice after Hurricane Michael.
