VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- The City of Valdosta is looking to bring new life to blank spaces.
The city is calling on artists for help designing a new mural to be painted downtown. The project will be displayed on the white wall located across Central Avenue from the historic courthouse.
The project is a partnership between the City of Valdosta Public Art Advisory Committee, the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts and Valdosta Main Street.
Organizers are looking for artists, from both locally and around the nation, to submit a design for the project.
This will be the first mural to be painted downtown, and organizers hope the new piece can bring a new spark to the area.
"We want to make sure that we're highlighting art in everything that we do," said Ellen Hill, Valdosta Main Street Director. "From great restaurants to art, even the baskets hanging from the light poles. We just want to make sure that downtown is beautiful and vibrant."
The deadline for submissions is April 17. The city then plans to have an unveiling celebration of the design on June 7.
