LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) -- Early voting came to a close on Friday.
Election officials in Lowndes County said this has been one of the busiest mid terms they have seen.
The Georgia gubernatorial race is one many voters have said has some of the highest stakes they've seen. Democratic nominee Stacey Abrams is facing Republican Brian Kemp. The race has brought in crowds of early voters to the polls.
Lowndes County officials said more than 20,000 votes have been cast, with even more absentee ballots.
Election officials said in Lowndes County said they have not run in to any issues with absentee ballots being rejected.
"We're taking every precaution necessary to ensure that these absentee ballots are getting processed as they should, and that everyone is getting the fair vote," said elections official Joseph Mariano.
Lowndes County officials said on voters should be prepared for long lines on Tuesday's election night.
