THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. - (WCTV) -- Thomas County Code Enforcement is investigating after two dead donkeys were found dumped in a ditch last week.

Code Enforcement Officer Pat Smith was the one to discover the emaciated animals while driving down Dixie Chastain Road.

"In that area, it's shocking," said Smith. "This is something you don't see often and whoever did it could have asked for some help."

She says the donkeys were neglected and dumped like trash near a bridge.

Code Enforcement says it will continue to investigate the incident. It doesn't know the cause of the donkeys' deaths, and has no leads at this time.

An anonymous resident has donated money towards a reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call local Code Enforcement.
