THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) -- Thomasville Police are investigating reports of multiple gunshots near Wright and College Streets.

Sunday evening, 911 calls were made in regards to a car driving recklessly down College Street, right before the sound of several gunshots was heard.

When police arrived, they found a gray Nissan Altima left running in the middle of the street. When they looked inside, they found a handgun and ammunition. Several witnesses told police they saw a black male running away from the vehicle.

TPD believes the incident could be gang related and officers are still looking for the people involved.

"When you start exchanging gunfire among people within a neighborhood there's always an opportunity or chance of striking someone that's innocent," said Maj. Wade Glover with TPD.

Police say no injuries were reported.

A police K-9 was brought to the scene Saturday evening, but the search was unsuccessful. Anyone with information is asked to call Thomasville Police.
