THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) -- Signs are hanging up in almost every business window in downtown Thomasville, asking people to be on the lookout for Deanna Shirey. Her disappearance has been the topic of many people's discussions for the past week.
"A lot of people are nervous and upset, worried," said Kate Wilder.
Many share the same feeling in this small community, and they're all hoping Shirey's family will soon have closure.
"The son of her actually came in to hand out a flyer so I got to talk to him for a little bit. You just feel so bad and you wish there was something you could do," said Olivia Schaffer.
Others have recognized Shirey in passing throughout their time in Thomasville.
"Saw her at Publix, she always had this joyous spirit and was always happy and always willing to help," said Ian Moody.
Some store fronts had additional flyers on their windows asking to pray for Shirey's safe return. Some say there has been fear caused by her disappearance.
"I've heard several older woman say they're afraid to leave their homes as much now and that they've kind of been more conscience about staying inside," said Emory Dean.
Not everyone is losing hope just yet.
"You have to have faith., and that she'll be safe and found safe," said Wilder.
"Just for the families sake I hope they get some closure," said Schaffer.
