VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- Valdosta State University is helping to fill students' cups in more ways than one.

The university is offering a way to get one-of-a-kind holiday gifts while giving back to students. On Friday and Saturday, the arts department is hosting its Holiday Ceramics Sale.

Pieces done by VSU ceramics students will be up for sale. Part of the proceeds go back to the arts department. The money helps to fund things like bringing guest speakers from around the world to speak to students on campus.

The rest of the proceeds go back to the young artists who created the pieces.

"I think it's really important for our students to understand that a life in the arts is possible," said VSU lecturer Mark Errol. "When they start to make objects and they get to put them in the hands of other people and engage in the community, they start to see a life for themselves as an artist and a maker some day."

The Holiday Ceramics Sale will take place in the VSU Department of Art and Design. It runs from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
