FAMU athletic director leaving for Kennesaw State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- FAMU athletics director Milton Overton has left his position with the Rattlers athletics department to take the same position at Kennesaw State University, KSU has announced.

He is slated to begin with KSU on December 1.

Overton spent two years at FAMU, beginning in August of 2015, coming to The Hill from the University of Alabama, where he spent six years as a senor associate athletics director.

"Overton brings extensive skills and experience to our growing athletics program," said KSU President Sam Olens. "We are confident that he will provide the leadership needed to continue Kennesaw State's competitive spirit for athletics and take the Owls to great heights in collegiate sports."

FAMU Interim President Larry Robinson said "We are highly appreciative of the work AD Overton has done during his tenure at FAMU and wish him well in his future endeavors."

FAMU has announced school graduate and former Rattler football player John Eason as the interim athletic director.

Milton will be formally introduced with KSU on Thursday, November 9 at 10 a.m.

When Eason begins his tenure as FAMU's interim AD, he will be the eighth AD for the program since 2010:

  • Mike Smith - January-August 2010 (Interim)
  • Derek Horne - August 2010-June 2013
  • Mike Smith - June 2013-April 2014 (Interim)
  • Kellen Winslow - April-November 2014
  • Nelson Townsend - November 2014-January 2015 (Interim)
  • D'Wayne Robinson - January-August 2015 (Interim)
  • Milton Overton - August 2015-Present
  • John Eason - Starting in November/December (Interim)
