TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State football team will start the season ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25, which was released on Sunday.
FSU checks in just behind No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Oklahoma. LSU rounds out the top five, which is otherwise unchanged from that of the Amway Coaches Poll. FSU received five first-place votes, which was third most behind Alabama and Clemson.
The Seminoles are one of four teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference to make the AP Top 25. (No. 2 Clemson, No. 19 Louisville, and No. 22 North Carolina are the others.)
Florida State in 2016 will face five teams who are ranked in the preseason poll. That starts with a Labor Day meeting with No. 11 Mississippi of the Southeastern Conference, and will continue two weeks later with a visit to No. 19 Louisville.
No. 22 UNC (Oct. 1), No. 2 Clemson (Oct. 29) and No. 25 Florida (Nov. 26) all visit Doak Campbell Stadium later in the season. Rival Miami was also the first team in “others receiving votes” category.
The Seminoles are about to enter their last week of fall camp, and they’ll open the season against Ole Miss on Sept. 5.
