Aunt Louise’s Farm in Monticello cleans up hurricane damage in time to offer fall festivities
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - With the fall season comes pumpkin patches and corn mazes, which can all be found at a family-owned farm in Monticello.
The owner of the farm, Louise Jones said she grew up on the farm. The property belonged to her father before he passed it down to her. Jones shared that her husband and five sons all work on the farm now to grow their own food and offer fun fall festivities for the community.
“I’m so thankful that I have been able to maintain the property and maintain ownership of the property. Now we get to invite everybody out, so it’s nice,” Jones said.
People should support local farms, according to the farm owner. This season, the community showed support by helping the Jones family clean up after Hurricane Helene damaged a portion of the property.
It was a challenge the family had to face one week before opening day. One of their largest animal structures was damaged during the storm. One goat died and a sheep was injured, according to Jones.
“A lot of emotions but then a lot of gratefulness that we’re okay. All of my family is okay. We were able to clean up. Friends and family came to our rescue and helped us clean everything up and get everything ready,” Jones said.
They were able to get everything ready for the community to enjoy. The farm features a pumpkin patch, corn maze, pony rides, games and more.
The farm will be open through November 17 on Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
