TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Four students from three different Leon County schools were injured in the Perry Street shooting, according to Leon County Schools.
The Leon High School football team confirmed on social media Monday that one of its players was injured in the shooting.
Leon High School Lions head football coach Ricky Bell confirmed to WCTV that one of his junior varsity players was injured.
Bell said he didn’t know what to think when he heard one of his players had been injured in the shooting. He said he was praying the player would be okay.
Bell said he visited the player in the hospital Monday. While he didn’t get a chance to speak with him because he was resting, Bell said the player looked “restful” and was “healing.”

Bell said the player is a good kid, and they’re hoping he makes a full recovery soon.
“He played defensive back and safety, and he was a good kid, very polite, very mannerly young man, worked hard, showed up every day and did everything we asked him to do so he’s a good boy,” Bell said.
Leon County Schools also shared a message on social media Monday regarding the shooting.
The district says it made sure schools were prepared Monday, with counselors available for students who may have been affected.
