WCTV Community Classroom - Koneisha Cofield from Springwood Elementary School
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Spring is in the air now, but there’s still nothing like cozying up with a blanket and a book!
That’s what this month’s Community Classroom teacher is asking for your help to buy for her students. Koneisha Cofield teaches fifth grade at Springwood Elementary School in Tallahassee.
Her project on DonorsChoose is called, “Cozy Up.”
When Tallahassee had a snow day in January, Ms. Cofield suggested that students grab a blanket and a book.
She wants to encourage reluctant and struggling readers to turn off the TV and gaming systems, put down the tablets and phones and cozy up with a good book.
“A lot of our kids come to school without the resources. So, it would be great if someone could donate to our project,” Cofield said. “At least start them off with a novel to get books in the home, maybe start their own personal library. I believe that all it takes is for something to spark that love of reading.”
Ms. Cofield is asking for 25 fleece blankets and 25 copies of the Children’s novel, “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
