The aviary houses a diverse collection of tropical birds, including hornbills, owls, and other exotic species known for their bold colors and intelligence. Lush greenery, winding pathways, and strategically placed water features replicate natural habitats while giving birds space to fly, forage, and socialize.

While the aviary is still about one-third complete, North Florida Wildlife Director Ryan Reines said they are moving forward with a phased opening, giving the public an early look at the experience while construction continues.

Despite the project still being under development, the North Florida Wildlife Center plans to open Tropical Treasures to the public during its annual “Love Birds” event on Valentine’s Day.

Reines said the event offers the perfect opportunity to introduce visitors to the aviary’s vision while continuing to expand the space in future phases.

Outside the new space, there will be all kinds of festive activities to enjoy!
