The site is being worked on at 1925 North Monroe Street, and the company said it will open in the spring. The facility is expected to be complete in April, according to the Vice President of Development Robert Morris.

Pickleball players at Tom Brown Park were already buzzing Monday afternoon. Many are pumped to have an indoor court option, especially as the weather heats up in Tallahassee, according to past president of the Tallahassee Pickleball Association, Fred Markham.

“No wind, no sun blinding you. People like to lob into the sun and can’t see the ball,” Markham said.

Markham said he’s also looking forward to having quality courts to play indoors. The facility will have six professional grade pickleball courts, according to Morris.

The 27,000 square foot space will include social games like Billiards, Shuffleboard, Soft Tip Darts, Dome Hockey. There will also be yard games like Cornhole, Ladder Ball, Ping Pong, Eight-Person Foosball, 4 Connect in a Row, Tumbling Timbers. Morris said they are aiming to provide a social experience that is not only limited to pickleball players.

The organization USA Pickleball estimates the game “grew in 2023 to 8.9 million players,” according to a growth report. The group estimates Florida 2854 total courts across the state. According to the same report, there are an estimated 2,208 outdoor pickleball courts in Florida compared to 646 indoor courts.

For many, a new indoor space is a welcome addition as the sport continues to gain traction.
