The perfect pairing of food and wine for your Valentine’s Day plans
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Amanda Morrison, Sommelier and owner of Poco Vino Wine shares her top three tips to find the perfect wine this Valentine’s Day.
The Sommelier said this is the time to break out that special bottle you have been saving. “Whether it’s a bottle of Champagne or an older vintage wine you have been aging, this is the perfect time to celebrate,” Morrison said.
With so many wine regions around the world, you can explore a new country from the comfort of your home. A great place to start is to choose a familiar varietal grown in a country or region new to you, according to Morrison. For example, if you are normally a fan of Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, try one from Chile instead. You can also revisit a special travel memory like a vacation or honeymoon by opening a bottle of wine made in that place.
This can also be a great opportunity to support a small business. When you’re picking out a special bottle, this is the time to visit a small locally owned wine shop or boutique online retailer. “They will know everything about how the wine will taste, what to pair it with, and the story about the people who made it,” said the wine connoisseur.
