Man finds dead body in backyard pool when removing cover for the season
SHOREHAM, N.Y. (CNN) – A homeowner in Long Island, New York made a shocking discovery in his backyard Sunday.
The man found a dead body in his backyard pool after he removed the cover for the season.
Authorities believe it could be the body of Matthew Zoll, a man accused of murdering his father last year.
They are still waiting for DNA analysis to confirm the identity.
In November 2024, Joseph Zoll called police and said his son, Matthew Zoll, stabbed him. He later died from his injuries.
At the time of the attack, police said the younger Zoll left the scene in a car that he later crashed, then fled on foot.
That crash was about a half mile from where the homeowner found the body in his pool.
In surprising twist, sources said the homeowner who found the body is a detective who took part in the manhunt for Matthew Zoll.
