Valdosta State kicks off fall camp
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A new coach, a new quarterback, new schemes on both sides of the ball, it’s a new era for the Valdosta State football program, but they have the same mindset.
Graham Craig took the job at the school he played at after serving as serving as offensive coordinator on the Blazers national runner-up run last season.
Craig and the Blazers opened fall camp Wednesday morning, a day one he said he was pleased with. Valdosta State is working new schemes with a lot of fresh faces, and there’s a quarterback battle with three worthy competitors, a battle he’d like to settle sooner than later.
Even with the newness, this team knows the end goal and that’s what they’re working towards.
“There’s been a really high standard here for a really long time,” said Craig. “We’ve talked about that the first two days and the history of this program and what this plays means to me and means to a lot of people.”
“We have a national championship standard here at Valdosta State,” added defensive lineman Greg Hudgins. “Right now, our focus is on Clark Atlanta, but the standard is still the same. It never changes.”
That season opener is against Clark Atlanta, set for August 30th in Birmingham.
