Valdosta State names QB1, ready to hit the road to open season
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A new coach. A new offense. A new defense. All storylines you can throw around when talking about the Valdosta State football team, and you can throw in a new quarterback too.
Head coach Graham Craig announcing Wednesday that Memphis transfer Harris Boyd is QB1. He said the quarterback competition was good all fall camp, but Boyd came in on a mission, learned the play book and the offense.
Now, he’s ready to lead this Blazer squad to a win. They face Clark Atlanta Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama to open the season, and they’re ready to hit the road and see some different faces.
“We’ve hit that point of camp,” said Craig. “You’ve definitely seen it the last week or so, once we got through our second scrimmage our guys got to where they were really ready to compete against someone else. I know our guys are excited. We’re excited as a staff so we have to go on the road first game and get focused and ready to go.”
Kickoff is set for 1:15 in Birmingham.
